WTCC Sponsorship 2013

2013 sees Butlers Vehicle Solutions Ltd confirm their continued support for the British racing star James Nash in the 2013 World Touring Championship. Stoke-on-Trent based Butlers first partnered with James in his British Touring Car Independent Championship winning season back in 2011. This year sees the third consecutive season Butlers Vehicle Solutions Ltd have sponsored James Nash.

James will this season drive a Bamboo Engineering Chevrolet Cruze alongside fellow Brit Alex MacDowall. James and Alex have previously raced against each other during James’ Independent Championship winning series where Alex drove a S2000 Chevrolet Cruze.

Tim Butler – Director of Butlers Vehicle Solutions Ltd, “We are proud to continue our relationship with James for our third season. We’re really looking forward to what he can do in the Chevrolet Cruze this year. It’s also nice to see our logo on the second Bamboo Engineering WTCC Chevrolet Cruze driven by Alex MacDowall.”

James Nash, “I’m over the moon to have retained the support of Butlers. It’s great to see them at the races and to work with a partner who really activates their sponsorship. It’s great that Butlers are such a forward thinking company and recognise the huge benefits to their business of sponsoring a touring car, and utilise these links as part of a marketing strategy to make their business grow.”.”

Richard Coleman – Chief Executive of Bamboo Engineering, “We’re delighted to welcome Butlers into the Bamboo stable. We hope they embrace the Bamboo brand as much as they have James and look forward to a long relationship together.”

WTCC Sponsorship 2012

In 2012 Butlers Vehicle Solutions Ltd agreed a deal to continue its ongoing relationship with James Nash, who decided to make the jump from the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) to the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). He decided to compete for the 2012 season with Team Aon in a Global Ford Focus.

James had come off the back of being 2011 BTCC Independent Champion so entered the season with high hopes. However, the season soon became a learning curve for James as the newly formed WTCC Ford Focus lacked in testing and development against its more established rivals such as Chevrolet and BMW.

Despite this lack of competition pace James managed to push the Ford into the second qualifying session on numerous occasions and even managed a pole for Race 2 in Marrakech. During this race James succeeded in holding on to 6th place overall.

Throughout the season James achieved 3 top 10 finishes and consistently finished above his teammate Tom Chilton, who had more experience in a Team Aon Ford. What this season did allow was to gain valuable knowledge of the WTCC circuits that would stand him in great stead for future seasons in the WTCC.

About James Nash

27 year old Milton Keynes born James Nash is one of the rising stars of British Motorsport. James began his racing career at 15 years old in 2000 where he competed in the Junior Formula TKM Karting. He graduated to the Senior National TKM Karting Championship in 2002 and finished the series 5th. Two years later in 2004 he narrowly missed out on the Championship title and took 2nd place. James decided to compete in the 2005 British Formula Ford Championship, and just a year later he came 5th overall in the championship. In 2007 James took 2nd place, narrowly missing out on the Championship title.

2008 saw James move into touring cars where he finished 4th in a SEAT Leon in the SEAT Eurocup. Since this move to touring cars James featured in selective events of the 2009 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in a Chevrolet Lacetti alongside Jason Plato. This move saw him take a 3rd place and an outright podium. James returned in 2010, but his most significant season came in 2011 when he raced a Vauxhall Vectra for 888 racing. James achieved his first ‘official’ outright win at Rockingham in 2011 and took 9 outright podiums and a fastest lap. It was in 2011 he won the BTCC Independent Trophy with a 32 point advantage over nearest rival Mat Jackson. He also finished in joint 4th place on 191 points in the overall drivers championship.

2011 also saw James take class pole and fastest lap in the 24 hour Dubai race and made a winning sports car debut from pole in the Donnington 3 hour GT race driving a works Lotus Evora. The World Touring Car Championship was next in James’ sights, which he chose to pursue in 2012 with Team Aon. The season saw him take three top 10 finishes including a 6th place overall and a pole position. James continues in the WTCC for the 2013 season in a Bamboo Engineering Chevrolet Cruze.

James is a former Autosport/McLaren/BRDC Young Driver of the Year finalist. Outside of his racing commitments James is an enthusiastic ambassador and fundraiser for the East Anglia Air Ambulance. Some of his fundraising activities have included a sponsored sky dive.
